Kesennuma
Kesennuma
city is a fishing port situated in northeast Miyagi.
"Kes"
has many beautiful and interesting attractions such as Oshima Island,
Mt. Amba, Iwaisaki Blowhole and the fish market.
Oshima
Island is the beautiful attraction that is generally number one on
sightseers’ lists. Besides the aqua coloured ocean and the squeaky
white sand beaches, Oshima is the home of Mt. Kameyama or "Turtle
Mountain".
The
mountain top can be reached by riding a brightly coloured chair-lift or
by hiking up through lush plant life. The view is amazing!!! -the vast
ocean in which groups of small islands nestle, families of dolphins
frolicking in the surf, and Kesennuma city in the background.
Mount
Amba, amoung numerous climbable and very scenic mountains around Kes, is
a hiker’s dream. A mere 30-40 minute hike is rewarded by a
breathtaking view of Kesennuma and Oshima. This adventure is especially
memorable if undertaken at night!!!
Iwaisaki
Blowhole is situated approximately 10 minutes south of Kesennuma city on
the coast and is a must see from the powerful blowhole to the
picturesque sunsets.
Lastly
if you have always dreamed of rising at 5am on a Sunday morning to check
out thousands of freshly caught fish, the Kes fish market is the place
to visit!!! Not an experience to be missed??
From
Sendai, Kesennuma is a handy 2-3 hour scenic costal ride by car or
train. So please take up the challenge, make the journey and come check
it out.
