Motoyoshi
RESTAURANTS:
Endo
Sushi has a good reputation.
TRAVEL:
The
Kesennuma line takes you to Sendai. The express trains (twice a day) are
direct and take l hr 30 mins. Get off at Rikuzen Koizumi for Koizumi
Beach or Ohya for Ohya Beach.
If
you take the slow train (2hrs 30mins), you must change at Kogota (be
sure to check the amount of time the train change takes). Also, make
sure you get on the right section of the train. Sometimes it splits and
goes in different directions!
Route
45 runs between Motoyoshi and Kesennuma (30 mins. by car). The nearest
neighbours are probably the Kesennuma ALTs.
SPORTS
FACILITIES:
There's
a hard tennis court behind the kominkan and a big gym next to the
kominkan but things are a bit old.
CULTURAL
ACTIVITIES:
Kominkan
offers photography, ceramics, and taiko (drum) classes.
PLACES
OF INTEREST:
Koizumi
Beach is beautiful and popular with wind-surfers. Ohya Beach is nice.
TOWN
FESTIVAL:
The
Kagaribi Festival (bonfire festival) is great. It has good music, food
and lots of stars (it's held in the mountains).
GENERAL COMMENT:
There's not too much around here except for rice
paddies and mountains, but the beaches are really nice.
